I decided to offer up writing advice. I’ve thought about posting this kind of information for some time, but never felt qualified. I still don’t think I’m an “expert”, but I am experienced. I started writing as a kid, and it was my favorite hobby until I decided to do something about my dream in my thirties. This is the first post of many futures posts.
What? Why? When? Where? These questions will be the foundation of what you do to create your story. Maybe you have a finished book, but I’m starting with the most basic blank page.
You stare at the vast expense of white before you.
Fiction is written just like a Facebook post or text message, one word at a time. It isn’t fast and often frustrating, but you can and should write if there’s a story in your heart. Some people outline, I’m more of a pantser, meaning I write by the seat of my pants as the story unfolds.
Your mission is to write, every day, pick up a pen or type out a line. Take thirty minutes for yourself and set a small goal. Write 500 words every morning when you drink your coffee or in the evening before bed. Don’t edit what you’ve done until you’ve finished.
